Rivière-du-Loup is a choice destination for tourists and conventioneers. September 21, 1982, marks an important moment in Rivière-du-Loup’s history. That was when the hard work of several business figures founded the Office du tourisme et des congrès. They believed in the region and in the importance of the tourism industry. Over the years, many individuals have sustained this tradition of excellence that enabled and continues to enable the region to stand out in Québec and to enjoy an enviable reputation. Over time, the Club des ambassadeurs emerged, along with various committees: conventions, whale-watching and snowmobiling. The earliest of them, the convention committee, is a bold initiative since it groups all hotel and restaurant operators along with many other partners, including the City of Rivière-du-Loup. Hawkesbury Golf and Curling is recognized for its challenge level for all types of players. This semi-private club offers everything a player hopes for from a good golf course: a classic layout, tournaments, private or group lessons and a pro shop. The course stands out for its classic character. Most of the fairways are lined with majestic, mature trees. The club is renowned for the difficulty of its raised greens, requiring great precision in approach shots. The narrow entrance to most of the greens requires golfers to locate their balls carefully on their tee shots, at the expense of distance. Each hole presents different obstacles but also provides opportunities to achieve fine performances. The greatest satisfaction clearly comes from talking with friends about their best shots. Sports enthusiasts will be well looked after at Hawkesbury Golf and Curling.

This resulted from major investments, including $2.5 million between 2005 and 2009 for major works on the course, followed by $1,0 million in 2012 and 2013, providing the club with a new state-of-the-art irrigation system.
